Graphic Communication:
Students will have an orientation on Friday, April 9th, at 1PM. At that time they will participate in a Jeopardy-style game to prepare them for a written test and interview. Bring a copy of your resume to this meeting. Your contest will include a written test and interview on Friday, and a live competition on Saturday, April 10th. The live contest will consist of recreating a document in page layout on a computer YOU PROVIDE. (All images will be provided for you. You will not be allowed access to the Internet). You will set up the computer on Saturday prior to the contest. You will also troubleshoot a file for errors in preparation for production on an offset printing press. In order to troubleshoot the digital files, InDesign must be used. Even if you download a 30-day trial version of the software you intend to use, do so prior to the state competition and test it to make sure it works. (Hardware and software will NOT be provided). You will also take a related math test in which you will calculate impressions, how much paper and ink to buy as well as the costs of the paper and ink.
